Choosing The Right Size & Weight For Your Silk Comforter [ Viewed: 3952 Times ]

Choosing The Right Size & Weight For Your Silk Comforter
Choosing the right size is a simple step. First decide on an approximate preferred length of drape. Once you have a general idea on your preferred length of drape, subtract the bed dimensions from the comforter dimensions to determine the drape. Find the comforter size that best matches your desired comforter drape.
Our comforter weight and dimensions can be found on our products page. Simply click the tab "Size & Weight".

Standard mattress dimensions can also be found on our product pages. Under the "Weight & Dimensions" tab a "View Mattress sizes to determine comforter drape" link can be found.

Some manufacturers mattress dimensions may differ from standard mattress dimensions. We recommend measuring your mattress.
EXAMPLE FOR DETERMINING DRAPE FOR A KING SIZE MATTRESS:

Standard Dimensions for a King Size Mattress measures 76"-78" (Width) x 80" (Length).
In this example we will use the standard measurement of 78" x 80."

Width: 90"-78"=12" (6 inch drape on each side of bed)
Length: 92"-80"=12" (12 inch drape on bottom of bed)

Selecting a comfortable comforter weight is a bit more tricky. Just like the amount of clothing a person needs for maximum warmth, the type of comforter that suits you best depends on many factors such as personal body temperature (health condition, age, etc.), area where you live (along the coast and high elevations are colder), room temperature (indoor heater setting), and amount of sleepwear you wear. For your reference, the following chart suggests the types of comforter most suitable for various room temperatures.
ROOM TEMPERATURE COMFORTER WEIGHT
65ºF (18ºC) - 85ºF (29ºC) Light (Summer)
55ºF (13ºC) - 75ºF (24ºC) Medium (Spring)
45ºF (7ºC) - 65ºF (18ºC) Heavy (Fall)
38ºF (3ºC) - 55ºF (13ºC) Extra Heavy (Winter)
