What Makes A Quality Silk Comforter
After you have expanded your knowledge about silk comforters and decide to buy one, the next step is being able to distinguish high quality silk comforters from low quality silk comforters.

Most silk comforter online retailers warn against tussah silk and short silk floss but do not give consumers specific details on how to recognize and avoid these inferior silk fillings.

Tussah Silk - is a wild silk and of lower quality. Tussah silk varies in color ranging from light brown to dark gray. It is usually processed before using in the finished product that requires cleaning and bleaching.

Short Silk Floss - creates uneven layering and requires extra stitching to prevent shifting and bunching.

Long Mulberry Silk Floss (Strands) - are recommended for silk comforter fillings to achieve smooth and even layers. Long mulberry silk filling is a higher quality silk and does not require bleaching.

How can you tell if your comforter is filled with long mulberry silk, tussah silk or short silk strands?
High quality silk comforters feel soft, smooth, and have good buoyancy. Silk Comforters should not have rough or uneven empty spots. Silk Comforters should not have excessive stitching or quilting. Most silk comforters have a 4-6 inch zipper opening along one edge of the comforter. This opening is sufficient to inspect the color of the silk filling but not the length of the silk floss (strands). We recommend asking your preferred silk comforter retailer about their methods to assure their customers about the quality of silk filling before purchasing.

Summit Silk Bedding assures their customers by providing silk comforters with a 24 inch hidden zipper opening along the comforters edge for easy inspection of silk filling color and silk filling length. Summit Silk Bedding silk comforters have minimal sewing to prevent silk strands from breaking.

We have come across many online retailers warning against low cost silk comforters that are marketed as "100% Mulberry Silk Comforters" but are not mulberry silk or layered evenly. We have also found high cost silk comforters that are made with low grade silk. We recommend researching who you are buying your silk comforter from and how long they have been in the silk bedding industry.

Summit Silk Bedding silk comforters are low cost silk comforters but are filled with 100% long mulberry silk floss (strands) and layered evenly. How are we able to offer high quality silk comforters with such low prices? Summit Silk Bedding is the pioneer of silk comforters in the U.S. asian community. We have spent close to 20 years searching for the best manufacturers as well as developing a strong relationship. Due to our high volume orders and long working relationship we are able to get great prices from our manufacturers. Most silk comforter retailers have not been in business for more than 5 years. Some online silk comforter retailers do not even have their own manufacturers and buy wholesale from us. We have extensive knowledge about silk comforters and have been perfecting them from close to 20 years of consumer responses.
